Abstract: For 136 Assam Hill kids born during May 1977-Dec. 1978, birth weight averaged 1.17 kg, 90-day weight (weaning) 4.75 kg, and 180-day weight 7.06 kg. Type of birth (single vs. multiple) had a significant effect on body weight at all ages. Season of birth had a significant effect on weaning weight, which averaged 5.45 kg for kids born during Oct.-Mar. vs. 3.77 for kids born during Apr.-Sep. There was a significant season X type of birth interaction for 180-day weight. |
